Andy Robertson to leave Liverpool after 9 years
Liverpool have confirmed that Andy Robertson will leave the club at the end of the current season, bringing an extraordinary nine‑year spell on Merseyside to a close. The 32‑year‑old Scotland captain departs as one of the most decorated and influential defenders in the club’s modern era.
Signed from Hull City in 2017, Robertson made 373 appearances for the Reds and played a central role in a period of historic success. His honours include two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the Community Shield.
In an emotional statement, Robertson reflected on the difficulty of leaving a club that has shaped both his career and personal life. He described Liverpool as “a huge part of mine and my family’s life for the last nine years” and said he will “always look back on amazing memories… with a big smile.”
Robertson’s departure follows the announcement that Mohamed Salah will also leave at season’s end, marking another major transition in the evolution of Liverpool’s squad. The left‑back had fallen behind summer signing Milos Kerkez in the pecking order but remained a respected leader within the dressing room.
Liverpool have confirmed that celebrations of Robertson’s legacy will come later, with the defender fully focused on helping the team finish the campaign strongly before bidding farewell to the Anfield crowd one final time. Liverpool FC
